Europe’s first cycle path follows the beautiful Danube river as it meanders from Germany to the Black Sea via Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania! This route provides a fantastic introduction to leisurely cycle touring, with safe rides along flat paths that are well maintained.
This is one of our team’s favourite destinations for a cycling holiday because of the magnificent scenery, with rolling green riverbanks along the river’s course. There is also a seemingly endless array of sights to see along the way. From the Baroque palaces of Vienna to the charming towns of Krems and Melk and the naturally fed thermal baths in Budapest, you’ll never be stuck for something to see or do.
Adige Cycle Path
The Adige cycle path is lined with natural beauty
From the majestic Alps to the glistening Adriatic, riding the Adige cycle path is one of the best ways to see Northern Italy. The beauty of this route is that it’s downhill or flat almost all the way! Starting in the mountain city of Bolzano, you’ll ride through one of Italy’s most beautiful regions, taking in the varied landscapes that include orchards, emerald-green vineyards and shimmering lakes as you ride into a different town each day.
This is a great route for cyclists of all levels and it’s a real family favourite too. The cycling isn’t the only highlight of this route... it’s difficult to visit Italy without marvelling at the beautiful buildings, viewing impressive art collections and of course enjoying the world-class food and wine.

Holland Junction Network

Following the junction network of signposted routes, rides along the 32,000 km of cycle paths are joyously flat with short distances between notable destinations.

For 13 years in a row, the Elbe Cycle Route has been voted the most popular in the country by members of the German Cyclists’ Federation and it's easy to see why! Dramatic mountain scenery, Bohemian towns and grand rivers are the essence of this route along Germany’s second longest river. Ending in the fascinating city of Dresden, with its cathedrals, palaces and museums, is a real highlight.
