Ride through the rolling green hills of the Bavarian Lake District, from the vibrant streets of Munich to Salzburg, Mozart’s home city. Touring through emerald forests and past glistening blue lakes, the cycling is mostly easy-going and, even when the Bavarian Alps rise around you towards the end of the tour, the terrain along the cycle path remains gentle.

Backed by modest mountains, Bavaria’s beautiful lakes make great spots for a picnic, refreshing swim or a boat trip – the islands of Lake Chiemsee are worth visiting. As you cycle southeast towards Austria, you’ll pass riverside villages and celebrated spa towns that were once important stations on Bavaria’s trade routes. Cycling into the sparkling city of Salzburg makes an impressive end to this tour and relaxing in a street cafe with an apple strudel is a delicious way to finish.
