This wonderful short break cycling tour of southern Italy’s Puglia region starts and finishes in the beautiful baroque town of Lecce. Follow the Ionian coastline towards Gallipoli's stunning old town, which is located on a limestone island. Ride on to Santa Maria di Leuca, the most southerly point of Italy's heel, where the Ionian meets the Adriatic Sea, before continuing up the southeast coast to Otranto with its impressive castle and cathedral. Your final ride takes you past olive groves and beaches back to Lecce.

This loop tour includes a balanced mix of sightseeing in authentic towns and cycling with rides averaging 31 miles (50km) on beautiful coastal roads. You're free to cycle at your own pace, but we recommend setting off a little earlier to allow time for refreshing swims and to take in the best of your overnight destinations.

If you are looking for a longer tour in this region, please take a look at our Puglia tour which starts in Alberobello, with its whitewashed stone huts known as Trulli.
