Why we love this tour

"Sardinia's south-western coast is blessed with some of Europe's best beaches. The tour follows the coast, taking in the beaches, cliffs, dunes and ancient Roman settlements. The cycling is hilly at times, but the sea is just to your right when you need to cool down!"

Pre-Roman ruins are scattered liberally across Sardinia but the island’s pristine beaches are its biggest selling point – and South West Sardinia's shoreline has some of the best. Abandoned mines and some of Europe’s tallest sand dunes are just some of the highlights to expect as you tour between hidden coves, passing juniper woods and sheer cliffs. You’ll ride along gentle coastal paths, pedal out to see pink flamingos on the Sinis Peninsula and hop on a ferry to experience the turquoise surf and tuna fishermen of Carloforte island.

The ruins of Tharros and the famous pre-Roman settlement at Nora are two of the main historic attractions and the rolling hills of Costa Verde are fringed by vast beaches and ancient sites. You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to authentic fishing villages for a gelato or espresso stop and you’ll be tempted to plunge into the sea or stretch out on the sand at every idyllic beach you ride past.

Please Note: the grading of this tour is based on the hardest day and not the tour as a whole, which is a mix of challenging days, moderate days, and easier days.

If you prefer a more relaxing tour, choose the guided South West Sardinia option and back-up of a support vehicle.
