Begin your cycling holiday in Belgium and take a gently paced, linear route north towards Amsterdam, The Netherlands’ capital and the world’s home of cycling!

This pretty route starts in the romantic, medieval city of Bruges, which is crisscrossed with charming, cobbled lanes, historic squares and picturesque waterways. From here, your route leads you along some of the world’s best cycle paths, passing tree-lined canals and open meadows, through the islands of Zeeland and the wetland of Biesbosch National Park.

Throughout the week, you’ll visit enchanting historic towns, each with fascinating facts to uncover. You’ll stay at carefully selected hotels that are based very near your cycle route.

As you approach Amsterdam, you’ll pass through pastoral countryside and the infamous windmills at Kinderdijk's UNESCO World Heritage site. Before finishing in the 400-year-old canal district, lined with an assortment of colourful townhouses.

We recommend giving yourself plenty of time on either side of your cycling holiday to explore both cities. If you arrive in Burges early, be sure to stroll along the canalside and stop by one of the many tempting cafés serving sweet treats. Belgium is after all famous for its waffles and chocolate! Extending your stay in Amsterdam will give you more time to visit its collection of museums, wander through its intriguing streets and don't forget to try some smoked sausage or a local beer.

This tour also runs in reverse: Amsterdam to Bruges - Hotel & Bike. Alternatively, if you would prefer to stay on a barge instead of in hotels, take a look at our popular Bruges to Amsterdam Boat & Bike tour.
