Why we love this tour

"Portgual's Atlantic coast is rugged and spectacular. The wild scenery, great food, charming towns and friendly people all make for a truly memorable ride. Cycling along the cliffs to the lighthouse at Sagres was the highlight of my Portugal ride. We recommend adding some extra nights in Lisbon before your tour. "

Cycle down the west coast of Portugal, from the enchanting capital city of Lisbon to the golden beaches of the Algarve on mainly quiet minor roads. Hugging the Alentejo coast for much of the way, you’ll pedal past crystal-clear waters and rolling Atlantic surf, stopping off at whitewashed towns, hilltop villages and chic coastal settlements en route. Each day of this tour offers something new, from the beautiful forested sandbank of the Troia Peninsula to Roman ruins and Moorish castles. Look for dinosaur footprints at Cabo Espichel, bottlenose dolphins near Setúbal, and nesting storks at Cabo Sardão.

The elegant resort of Comporta is a highlight on day three. Turning inland, the scenery changes to cork forests, castles and undulating countryside. Fried cuttlefish, blueberry cocktails and sweet potatoes are just some of the delicacies you’ll taste en route. On your final day, you’ll cycle to the southwest tip of Europe where the Cabo de São Vicente headland is an inspiring place to see before cycling onto Lagos.
