Join modern-day pilgrims on the last 167 miles of the Camino de Santiago, riding from the Gothic architecture of Astorga to the golden spires of Santiago de la Compostela - people have travelled this route since medieval times to visit the burial site of St James, one of the Twelve Apostles. Undulating tracks and ascents are balanced with relaxed cycling along quiet lanes and you’ll stay in atmospheric hotels close to the trail.
Riding through miles of unspoilt scenery, you’ll begin in the Mountains of Leon, before entering the gastronomic region of Galicia, with its green hills, sloping farmland and sleepy villages - perfect places to stop for a slice of almond cake or to try the local favourite of octopus with olive oil. When you reach the gilded interior and enormous incense burner of the Cathedral of Santiago on the final day, spare a thought for the thousands of pilgrims who’ve walked for weeks to arrive here over the centuries.
